Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Engineering Manager, Mechanical Engineers, Drafters and Manufacturing Support to develop conceptual designs for hydraulic & pneumatic cylinders, valves, accumulators and components and generate necessary documents including manufacturing drawings and bills of material
  • Works with the customer and Engineering Manager in the receipt of custom product design requests, provide necessary design details to help with quoting and identification of the most efficient engineering design, development and manufacturing process
  • Develops and analyzes product designs on a timely basis, provides guidance to designers or drafters in preparing engineering general assembly and/or manufacturing detail drawings and documentation to ensure the customer needs and product engineering requirements are met
  • Responsible for generating and releasing the Bill of Material to other departments
  • Works closely with the Engineering Manager and other GHN Management in developing an efficient design, manufacturing process, testing and scheduling of order to ensure timely production and shipment of the product to the customer
  • Develops product designs from the specifications provided by the Engineering Manager, Sales Department and/or the customer
  • Discuss the manufacturing process for product and component development with the engineering team members to ensure clear direction and understanding of the desired end result and to facilitate the quoting process
  • Perform initial and ongoing design reviews with GHN team and/or customers
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Department to identify the right materials at the best possible price to meet customer requirements for approved materials
  • Based on direction by the Engineering Manager and President, periodic overnight travel to customers to assist in the product design process and provide support to the GHN sales and marketing efforts
  • Ability to work within SolidWorks, AutoCad or other CAD software to efficiently release drawings both internally and to customers

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Must have the ability to use scientific and mathematical principles to develop technical solutions for cylinders, valves and accumulators
  • Must be able to carry out written, verbal and diagrammatic instructions; apply logical/scientific thinking; perform basic and advanced arithmetic and engineering calculations; use a variety of engineering tools and techniques
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with employees and management
  • Rudimentary understanding of conventional machining practices and machine shop theory
  • Knowledge/Familiarity of CAD software packages such as SolidWorks and AutoCad

Machine Shop Lead – Evening/Night Shift

Job Purpose:

Hours for this role are (4) 10 hour shifts- Monday – Thursday, 9PM to 7AM.

Responsibilities:

Description of Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Teamwork and communication skills
  • Be aware of set jobs rates, and maintain them daily
  • Follow the daily and weekly priority that set by production planners and ensure to complete them as planned
  • Be able to setup and run CNC and Lathe machines
  • Responsible to lead all production activities within defined area.
  • Set up and operate machines (calibration, cleaning etc.) to preform machining operations
  • Read blueprints or job order to determine product specifications and tooling instructions
  • Control and adjust machine settings (e.g. speed)
  • Keep workplace safe, clean, and organized
  • Ensure proper placement of tools at the end of the shift
  • Help with trouble shooting when needed

 

Description of other duties that may be assigned: Perform general shop duties including, but not limited to: mechanical assembly, testing, material handling, simple deburring, non-skilled machining, and other production related duties as assigned by supervision. Must adhere to safety standards. During high production peaks may be asked to perform production work. Perform light housekeeping duties (5S) duties as prescribed by management, and all other tasks as required by management.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; technical degree is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years progressive lead experience or equivalent experience in non-lead roles
  • Proven experience as a machine operator
  • Understanding of production procedures
  • Accountable for achieving production goals and benchmarks.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions required in manufacturing setting.
  • Leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Should have a demonstrated ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, changing work environment.

  • Work can range from smaller less complicated work to large and expensive work or smaller work of complicated nature having critical and exacting requirements as to tolerance and finish.
  • Lay out and self-inspect workmanship.
  • Diagnose and rectify tooling problems and machine malfunctions.
  • Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and perform complex inspection of machining specifications and criteria.
  • Knowledge of deburring techniques and ability to operate a variety of deburr and finishing equipment.
  • Active and integral participation in machining improvement Kaizens / Lean efforts
