Material Handler

Job Purpose:

The Material Handler performs various coordination activities to support company operations and maximize company revenue and profitability.

Responsibilities: 

  • Provides organization of daily job orders from Production Planning to assemblers (Cylinders & Balers), machinists, and welders to maximize manufacturing output and assure on-time delivery.
  • Coordinates sales orders to the Assembly Line and distributes work load to assembly line
  • Directs material flow and proper staging in the work centers utilizing pick sheets
  • Receives, checks in all incoming parts to stockroom and distributes them physically and in the system
  • Assists Supervisor in assigning, and directing work
  • Works through Supervisor in addressing material shortages or bottlenecks.
  • Works through Master Scheduler and Engineer to address job order informational in-accuracies
  • Pull daily parts Baler orders, pull machining / welding orders
  • Prepare and process documents, such as work orders, and route material.
  • Coordinates all outside processing operations
  • Deliver and route material to departments
  • Demonstrate ability to use a variety of basic measuring instruments (scale, tape measure, dial caliper) to verify/validate accurate part identification.
  • Train Final Assembly assistant on all parts of the job as a backup.
  • Supports Material flow improvements and lean concepts to be implemented.
  • Inventory cycle counts as needed
  • Carries out duties in accordance with company policies and applicable employment laws.

Perform general shop duties such adjusting inventory, cylinder assembly, material handling, simple deburring, washing, crating, non-skilled machining, assisting shipping & receiving as needed and other production related duties as assigned by supervision.

CNC Machinist – Float

Job Purpose:

Set-up, adjust, and operate shop CNC machine tools to perform complex machining operations on a variety of close tolerance work. Able to program parts using software as well as editing at the machine.

Responsibilities: 

  • Set-up, adjust and operate shop machine tools to perform complex machining operations on a variety of close tolerance work in a high mix short lead time environment
  • Operate CNC machining equipment, and a variety of supporting equipment to perform a series of progressive machining operations to meet precise tolerance and finish requirements.
  • Work from detailed and involved drawings and specifications. Machine types to include CNC Vertical Mills & CNC Horizontal Machining Centers, CNC Lathes, assorted manual machines, special purpose machines, etc.
  • Work can range from smaller less complicated work to large and expensive work or smaller work of complicated nature having critical and exacting requirements as to tolerance and finish.
  • Lay out and self-inspect workmanship.
  • Diagnose and rectify tooling problems and machine malfunctions.
  • Use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments and perform complex inspection of machining specifications and criteria.
  • Knowledge of deburring techniques and ability to operate a variety of deburr and finishing equipment.
  • Active and integral participation in machining improvement Kaizens / Lean efforts
  • High and low volume production experience utilizing pallet changers/pallet pool systems
  • Use of Mastercam programming software
  • Utilize solid models to generate programs, work layouts, and setup instructions.
  • Able to edit/modify programs at the control as needed
  • Experience with high feed/high speed tooling utilization
  • Maintain data integrity and accuracy between part routing, CNC program, and work instructions, with Manufacturing Engineering support.
  • Institute and maintain electronic tooling database library & identification numbers for all CNC tooling, with Manufacturing Engineering support.

Mechanical Engineer

JOB PURPOSE:

The Mechanical Engineer supports product engineering department goals through developing product designs and, provide guidance to designers and drafters in preparing engineering general assembly drawings, manufacturing detail drawings and documentation.  Responsible for interacting with current and potential customers to develop new product designs and to assist in preparing customer price quotes.  Provides manufacturing and customer support.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Chief Engineer, other Mechanical Engineers, drafters, and Manufacturing Engineer, to develop conceptual designs for hydraulic & pneumatic cylinders, pneumatic valves, balers, and baler components, and subsequently generate necessary documents (manufacturing drawings, Bills of material, operation manuals, etc.).
  • Works with the customers and the Chief Engineer in the receipt of custom product design requests, provide necessary design details to help with quoting, and identification of the most efficient engineering design, development and manufacturing processes.
  • Develops and analyzes product designs on a timely basis and provides guidance to designers or drafters in preparing engineering general assembly drawings and manufacturing detail drawings and documentation to ensure the customer needs and product engineering requirements are met.
  • Develops product designs from specifications provided by the Chief Engineer, Sales department personnel and/or the customer.
  • Works closely with the Chief Engineer and others in the GHN management team in developing an efficient design, manufacturing process, testing and scheduling of product and component custom orders to ensure timely production and shipment of the product to the customer.
  • Responsible for generating and releasing the Bills of Material to other departments.
  • Discuss the manufacturing process for product and component development with the engineering team members to ensure clear direction and understanding of the desired result and to facilitate the quoting process.  Perform initial and ongoing design reviews.
  • Based on direction provided by the Chief Engineer and the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, periodically visit customers to assist in the product design process and to provide support to the GHN’s sales and marketing efforts.
  • Work closely with the Purchasing Department in identifying the right materials at the best possible price – to meet customer requirements & buy appropriate materials.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Position may be required to periodically flex to off shifts and provide weekend coverage due to production demands

 

Description of other duties that may be assigned:

Provide design and engineering support and backup for other Engineers and designers.  Review drawings from other team members for accuracy.

Remain current on fluid power industry trends, new product design ideas, and activities of the competitors.

Actively seek professional development activities to enhance product design skills.

Perform occasional general shop duties including, but not limited to, assembling the products, measuring dimensions, using gauges. Must help with assembly, testing and on-site commissioning of balers.

Must adhere to safety standards

Additionally, visit the field sites where GHN products are used and provide support as required by the organization. This may require traveling with service personnel to assist with troubleshooting.

Occasionally, must be able to accompany the sales team members to provide technical support when visiting a customer’s facility. Traveling overseas may be required from time to time.
